Europe has never had youth skills, and was not initially founded by the youngest of its citizens. Yet it is youth that is the strength of the European Union, this innovative project, unique in the world and looking to the future. Since the beginning, the EU has developed policies and initiatives for young people. They give it back, by having a positive outlook on this project or by participating and valuing its policies. The latter are nevertheless limited in number and scope, in particular because they struggle to reach those who are/feel furthest away from the opportunities offered by membership of the EU. It is therefore time to question these limits and of initiating a reflection in order to forge tools to enable young Europeans to participate at the construction of Europe.

Graduate in European Affairs, Claire Versini is an expert on themes related to European youth and citizenship.
