‘Boris Johnson should resign’

This week on Talking Europe, Italy’s former Prime Minister says Boris Johnson « should resign » after the UK’s highest court ruled unanimously that his attempt to prorogue the British parliament was « unlawful ».

Whether the EU would possibly grant a Brexit extension, Mr Letta said he was pessimistic and willing “to bet on a catastrophic no deal”.

“At the European level, I think maybe patience is over and the idea that they can give more time maybe is over. »

On the thorny issue of migration, he urged a new treaty to be agreed between “willing countries” that reinforces public trust by showing that “public institutions are managing the [issue]”.
