Former WTO head Lamy: 'Brexit is like trying to get an egg out of an omelette'

He says Brexit is like "trying to get an egg out of an omelette" and a "stupid mistake". Our guest Pascal Lamy knows the issues involved better than most – he served as chief-of-staff to EU Commission President Jacques Delors, and was at the eye of the Eurosceptic storm as Britain’s The Sun newspaper published its notorious "Up Yours Delors" front page in 1990. More recently he served as Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Pascal Lamy tells FRANCE 24 what he makes of the UK’s departure from the EU; what kind of trade deal could be possible; and what it would mean for the UK to have a "no deal Brexit" and fall back on WTO rules. We also discuss the impact of Germany’s political uncertainty on Europe, and ask why France is bidding to host the 2025 World Expo.
