Arancha González Laya is the Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po, the first woman to hold this position at the third-best university in the world for political science and international relations.
She served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of Spain (2020–2021). Ms. González was also United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the International Trade Centre, the joint trade development agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (2013–2019). Between 2005 and 2013, she was Chief of Staff to the Director-General of the World Trade Organization and WTO Sherpa to the G-20.
Before that, Ms. González held several positions at the European Commission in the fields of external relations and development, and began her career in the private sector as a partner in a law firm.
A Spanish national, she holds a law degree from the University of Navarra and a Master’s degree in European Law from Carlos III University in Madrid.
