Benjamin Couteau

Research Fellow, Centre Grande Europe

Benjamin Couteau has been a researcher at the Centre Grande Europe of the Jacques Delors Institute since November 2022, specialising in EU enlargement policy, the Western Balkans and Turkey. His work also focuses on competing influences in the region.

He previously served as Coordinator of the Institute’s working groups (Geopolitics, Migration & Asylum, European Parliament Political Observatory, EU-US Relations, EU-China Relations, Health) and as Education Manager of the Académie Notre Europe (2021-2024), where he trained students and young professionals on European issues.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in European and International Law from the University of Bordeaux, and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and EU Law from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. He also studied at Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas University and at Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania). He is fluent in French, English and Spanish, and has knowledge of Italian and Turkish.
