Guillaume Duval

Advisor, the future of European integration

Guillaume Duval has been a special advisor at the Jacques Delors Institute on issues relating to the future of European integration since December 2024.

At the start of his career, he worked in the private sector, notably for multinationals in the automotive equipment and capital goods industries in France and Germany. He spent fifteen years in industry before turning to economic journalism and becoming editor-in-chief of Alternatives Économiques. Between 2015 and 2021, he sat on the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) as a member representing nature and environmental protection.

In 2020, he became speechwriter to Josep Borrell, then High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. He has published a dozen books on European issues, including La France ne sera plus jamais une grande puissance ? Tant mieux (2015), Trump, Poutine, Orban, Salvini, le Brexit… Une chance pour l’Europe ! (2019) and L’impasse. Comment Macron nous mène dans le mur (2021).

Guillaume Duval is a graduate of the École nationale supérieure d’arts et métiers (ENSAM) and is fluent in French, English, and German.
