Lukáš Macek

Head of the Centre Grande Europe

Lukáš Macek has been Head of the Greater Europe Center at the Jacques Delors Institute since November 2022. He is a specialist in Central and Eastern Europe and has been Director of the European undergraduate program at Sciences Po Dijon since 2004, where he continues to teach. He is the author or co-author of numerous articles and studies on European issues, including Does Enlargement Jeopardize the European Project? (2011).

After studying in France, he was an assistant and teaching assistant at New York University in Prague, as well as a parliamentary attaché and political advisor on European affairs to Josef Zieleniec. He participated in the work of the Convention on the Future of Europe and was involved in political campaigns related to the Czech Republic’s accession to the EU and the 2004 and 2009 European elections.

Lukáš Macek completed a hypokhâgne at the Lycée Carnot in Dijon, a master’s degree in international relations and European affairs at Sciences Po, and a study abroad program at the Cesare Alfieri University in Florence. His working languages are French, English, and Czech, with knowledge of German and Italian.
