Monique Pariat

Before joining the Jacques Delors Institute, Monique Pariat devoted her entire professional career to European integration within the European Commission. Over the course of her 37-year career, she held a wide range of positions in fields as diverse as migration, security, crisis management, agriculture, maritime resources, and the EU budget.

As Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs, she notably led the work on the Pact on Migration and Asylum, as well as on European border policy and internal security. Previously, as Director-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, she was instrumental in the creation of the European strategic reserve of crisis response capacities, rescEU.

Monique Pariat is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) of Strasbourg, the College of Europe in Bruges, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (Executive Programme). She is fluent in French, English, German, and Italian.

She has authored several articles for the Revue du droit de l’Union européenne and the Jacques Delors Institute, and has contributed to training programmes at the IEP of Strasbourg and the College of Europe.
