Philippe Lagayette

Graduated from École Polytechnique and École Nationale d’Administration, Philippe Lagayette began his career in the French General Inspectorate of Finance in 1970. In 1974, he joined the Treasury Department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and was appointed Deputy Director in 1980. He became Chief of Staff to the Minister of Economy and Finance in 1981, then joined the Bank of France in 1984 as Deputy Governor. Appointed CEO of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations in 1992, he held this position until December 1997. From 1998 to August 2008, he led JP Morgan’s activities in France. He then served as Vice-Chairman of JP Morgan for the EMEA region until January 2010. He also chaired the French American Foundation from 2003 to 2010.

He is now Vice-Chairman of Barclays Capital, Senior Advisor in France, consultant (PL Conseils), member of the Boards of Directors of Fimalac, PPR, and Renault, President of the Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies, President of the Foundation for Scientific Cooperation for Alzheimer’s Disease Research, and President of the Fondation de France. Philippe Lagayette is a Commander of the Legion of Honour and a Commander of the National Order of Merit.
