Sacha Courtial

Associated researcher, EU-China relations

Sacha Courtial has been an associate researcher at the Jacques Delors Institute since January 2025, specializing in EU-China relations. He is also chief of staff to Pascal Lamy, coordinating activities between the Jacques Delors Institute and its sister institutions in Berlin (Delors Centre) and Brussels (Europe Jacques Delors), and has been secretary of the EU-China Working Group since January 2023.

Before joining the Institute, he completed internships in renewable energy (EkWater), at the National Assembly on CETA and energy-climate policies, and at the European Parliament on resources and raw materials. He is a member of the Executive Board of Volt Europa France and a Fellow of the Open Diplomacy Institute.

Sacha Courtial holds a bachelor’s degree in political science (Sciences Po Rennes) and a master’s degree in European and Chinese economic governance (LSE), with a stay at Fudan University. He is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Chinese, with a basic knowledge of Japanese.
