Elvire Fabry, senior Research Fellow at the Jacques Delors Institute, is a discussant in a dinner organised by Carnegie Europe, University of Warwick and the Institute for European Studies of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, to debate on the role of the EU in the current Global Order.

As challenges mount to global order, the EU faces the dilemma of how to respond. In this dinner, participants will discuss a recent article by Richard Youngs and Michael H. Smith that explores the EU’s shift to a more contingent liberalism in its external relations and speculate on what this may portend for the EU’s self-identity, European interests, and the integrity of the prevailing global order. This dinner debate will bring together key policymakers and thought leaders shaping EU global strategy for a discussion on the implications of the EU’s drift toward contingent liberalism.
