Brussels, 1st March 2018 – Citizen Participation in the Energy Transition
Thomas Pellerin-Carlin, research fellow at the Jacques Delors Institute in charge of European energy policies, intervenes in a seminar organised by the Saint-Louis University in Bruxelles : "Citizen Participation in the Energy Transition: what role for the EU?"
In 2015, the European Commission invited local authorities to sign the so-called Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, which aims to foster local authority participation in the energy transition. More recently, the Commission’s 2016 Clean Energy Package recognized the role of such community-based energy projects at EU level for the first time.
Along with Frédéric Boyer, head of office, Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, and Dirk Vansintjan, director Rescoop Europe, Thomas Pellerin-Carlin is invited to express his views on this shift in the Commission’s energy policy by focusing on the objectives of the Clean Energy Package, with an emphasis on the role of citizens.
If you want more information on this seminar, you can consult the programme, enclosed to this announcement, and register to the event here. On the same topic, we also invite you to read our publications: “Making the Energy transition a European success” (26 June, 2017) and “Electric cars: a driver of Europe’s Energy transition” (16 October, 2017).
