While the European Union is facing multiple “crises”, is criticised for its lack of effectiveness or legitimacy, the “Europe Kojève 2018” symposium will draw on Alexandre Kojève’s work, to better position the European building process in space and time beyond the mere injunctions of the present. European public actors (at political and administrative levels), academics and researchers experts in Kojève and in the European Union and psychoanalysts will gather to examine together (by assonances, and dissonance if need be) key European developments in the light of Kojevian analyses and notions (including those on the “end of history” popularised by Francis Fukuyama after the fall of the Berlin Wall and of the Soviet Union, and on “the universal and homogeneous State”).

This is notably the role played by Pascal Lamy during these meetings, as he intervenes in a roundtable entitled “Europe, globalisation and the Universal and homogeneous State, during which he exposes his views on the following question : is Europe a forerunner of the development of a Universal State? To discuss this thesis, Pascal Lamy is accompanied by :
