Every year in September, the President of the European Commission delivers her State of the Union speech in Strasbourg, an annual event designed to set out the challenges for the months ahead. Since 2010, the aim has been twofold: to take stock of the past year for the European executive and to outline the major prospects for the year ahead.
How can we continue to implement the European Green Pact at a time when it’s becoming more politically contested? What support should be given to Ukraine at a time when a long war is taking hold? How can we prepare our institutions and citizens for future enlargements? How can we tackle recurring challenges such as migration and energy? Finally, and more generally, how can we assess the Von der Leyen Commission’s mandate in the run-up to the European elections?
We are delighted to welcome Enrico Letta, President of the Jacques Delors Institute, for this Euroquestions de la rentrée 2023, moderated by Lara Martelli.
