Since the establishment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in 1952,

its mission has been to ensure that “the law is observed” “in the interpretation

and application” of the Treaties. The Court of Justice of the European Union, which has its seat in Luxembourg,

consists of three courts: the Court of Justice, the General Court (created in

1988) and the Civil Service Tribunal (created in 2004).

António Vitorino delivers the Speech from the Formal sitting of Tuesday, December 4, 2012 after the allocation of the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union,

Vassilios Skouris and intervention of the Court of the European Union, Marc Jaegeret President of the Court of public Service of the European Union, Sean Van Raepenbusch.
