In October, to mark the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Pew Research Center will be releasing a landmark study on European public opinion. The study is the newest edition of a research project first conducted in 1991 and then again 2009, charting attitudes in 16 nations across Europe on – among other topics – the transition to democracy and capitalism, the European Union, national identity, Europe’s economic integration and the relationship between citizens and the state.
