With the pressure of high energy prices, a growing focus on the security of energy supply and the looming climate crisis, the energy transition is becoming everyone’s business. But what does that mean for citizens’ role in the European energy transition? What rights and responsibilities do different actors have in the transition and to which extent can they participate in the transition? How can the EU improve citizen involvement in energy production, demand response and governance?
Closed-door roundtable with 10 EU-level experts to discuss preliminary project findings and include some initial policy recommendations as the project approaches its third and final year. The discussion will primarily focus on:
- inclusive and empowering policy and legal frameworks;
- improved and new forms of governance;
- financial and technical assistance schemes.
