La présidence française du Conseil de l’Union européenne veut faire du sommet Union européenne - Union africaine des 17 et 18 février prochains le point de départ d’une « alliance ambitieuse et tournée vers l’avenir » entre les deux continents, bâtie sur le triptyque prospérité, paix et sécurité, migrations et mobilité.
Dans ce contexte, l’Institut Jacques Delors, sur la base des travaux de son groupe Migration & Asile, et le think tank citoyen d’Afrique de l’Ouest WATHI ont souhaité organiser une discussion conjointe sur les perspectives qu’offre cette nouvelle « alliance » concernant le dernier volet du triptyque. Les priorités mises en avant par le Vieux Continent en matière de migration correspondent-elles aux attentes de ses partenaires africains ? Quelle forme pourraient adopter d’authentiques partenariats avec les pays d’origine de la migration, qui tiendraient compte des aspirations des migrants et des intérêts de ces pays ?
Les discussions seront introduites par Sébastien Maillard, directeur de l’Institut Jacques Delors, et Gilles Yabi, président et fondateur de WATHI.
