Polish Economic Institute would like to invite you to an online conference during which the conclusions of the latest report “An EU of convergence or divisions? The European economy 30 years after the Treaty of Maastricht” are to be reviewed.

On the 30th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty, the Polish Economic Institute has prepared a report summarizing the economic convergence in the last three decades. We discuss the economic expectations related to the Treaty and examine whether the convergence actually took place. The evidence indicates specialization in industry and increasing economic efficiency in CEE countries. The EU’s South, however, is stuck in a low productivity trap.

The report will be presented by Marcin Klucznik, analyst of PEI’s macroeconomics team.
We will discuss the report with:
– Eulalia Rubio, senior research fellow in economic affairs, Jacques Delors Institute;
– Zsolt Darvas, senior fellow, Bruegel.

Moderation: Piotr Arak, director of the Polish Economic Institute.
