PARTENAIRES

The United States and China, in their race for world leadership, are using their influence on the strategic territories of Europe and Africa. The supply of rare materials, the financing of infrastructure, security and defence issues: these are all cross-cutting issues impacted by this rivalry at the top, leading the European Union and Africa to review their relations with these powers.

With experts from both continents, we invite you to an exchange of views on the various aspects of the Sino-American rivalry and its implications for Africa and Europe.

This webinar, organised jointly by the Jacques Delors Institute and the WATHI think tank, will be introduced by their respective directors, Sébastien Maillard and Gilles Yabi.

With the participation of :
Pierre Haroche: Senior Lecturer in International Relations and International Security at Queen Mary University of London
Sylvie Bermann: Member of the Board of Directors of the Institut Jacques Delors and former French Ambassador to London, Moscow and Beijing
Paul-Simon Handy: Director of the Addis Ababa office of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS, based in South Africa)
Folashadé Soulé: researcher in international relations at Oxford University and visiting scholar at the University of Ghana
