Delivering the 2021-27 MFF and NGEU: How to match strategy, resources and expectations?

This policy roundtable is the second of two EPRS events looking at the political and economic significance of the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the period 2021-27 and the new, 750 billion euro recovery fund known as ‘Next Generation EU’. While the first event focused on the complex negotiations that led to agreement on the MFF and NGEU, this second event, on Tuesday 4 May, discusses the process of delivering the MFF and NGEU over the years ahead. Johan Van Overtveldt, Chair of the EP Budgets Committee, opens the conversation. An expert panel then explores best ways of aligning policy, resources and citizens’ expectations in the years ahead, focusing on policy areas such as climate action and migration and border management. The panel also looks at whether and how far the planned strategy reflects the preferences and expectations of citizens, linking with debates surrounding the Conference on the Future of Europe.
