Europe Day is celebrated every 9 May across all EU Member States to commemorate the historic date of 9 May 1950. On that day, Robert Schuman presented his proposal for a united Europe – the Schuman Declaration – widely regarded as the founding act of the European Union.
On this occasion, the City of Paris co-organises every year, together with the Paris offices of the European Parliament and the European Commission, the Europe Day celebrations, alongside numerous institutional, civil society, and media partners, including the Institut Jacques Delors. This festive and civic-minded event celebrates Europe while bringing together the people of Paris around the European project and reaffirming Paris’ central place within the European Union.
The 2026 edition will take place in Paris on Saturday, 9 May, at Place de la République and will feature panel discussions, association and institutional stands, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and a major European concert to close the day. The event will also serve as an opportunity to reaffirm Europe’s core values: solidarity, democracy, respect for the rule of law, and environmental protection.
Panel discussions will take place in the “debates” tent.
