Euroquestions #71 | The legacy of Jacques Delors

Our institute was saddened to learn of the death of our founding President Jacques Delors on 27 December. As we saw from the many tributes paid to him in France and throughout Europe, his legacy is immense: the internal market, the euro, the Erasmus programme, structural and cohesion funds, European social dialogue, and the food aid programme for the most deprived. Beyond his achievements as President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors was also a method, a way of thinking and a unique style, in the words of Pascal Lamy. His values and ideas remain relevant as the European Union faces several major challenges in this important election year.
To discuss his legacy and the man himself, we are delighted to welcome Christine Verger, Vice-President of our institute and former member of Jacques Delors’ cabinet.
