EuroQuestions | Four years after the Russian invasion : What hopes for Ukraine and Europe?

February 24, 2026 marks the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It is an opportunity to take stock of this deadly war, but also to reflect on the future challenges it raises for the country and for Europe as a whole: the challenge of post-war transition, the challenge of reconstruction, the challenge of European accession, and the challenge of continental security.

Alongside Sébastien Maillard, Special Adviser to the Jacques Delors Institute and its former Director, this EuroQuestions event will assess the state of the conflict and the reconstruction process, analyse the enlargement process and the risks of rapid EU accession, and outline ongoing reflections on a new European security architecture in the face of the Russian threat and American disengagement.
