[FR] Euroquestions #46 | General elections in Sweden: heading for another deadlock?

On 11 September, Swedes will go to the polls to elect their parliamentary representatives for the next four years. The latest polls indicate that the election will be very close, with the left and right blocs separated by less than 1%. The rise of the far-right, Eurosceptic Sweden Democrats (SD) is also catching the attention of observers. For the first time, moderate right-wing parties have opened the door for the Sweden Democrats to play a role in a potential coalition government. Finally, the energy price crisis has brought the energy issue to the forefront of the debate. In particular, the future role of nuclear power in Sweden’s energy mix and ways of tackling rising electricity and fuel prices.
We welcome Karin Thalberg, a researcher at the Jacques Delors Institute, who will present the issues at stake in these general elections during this Euroquestions.
