[FR] Euroquestions #92 | Elections in Germany: what impact will they have on the EU?

Following the collapse of the ‘traffic light’ coalition in November 2024, the German political landscape is at a decisive turning point. The results of the 23 February election will obviously have significant repercussions for Germany, but also for the European Union. The new government will have to rethink the crisis-ridden German economic model, while navigating an international context disrupted by events such as Donald Trump’s announcements and Russia’s war against Ukraine. What are the prospects for Germany’s European policy and for Franco-German relations?

What priorities can we expect? Could the German far right enter into a coalition government? How do European leaders view this election?

To discuss these questions, we are pleased to welcome Yann Wernert, researcher at the Jacques Delors Centre in Berlin and specialist in Franco-German relations.
