Legitimacy crisis and autocratic legalism: the case of the EU budget

Dimitrios Skiadas is Professor of European Governance and holds the Jean Monnet Chair in the Department of European and International Studies at the University of Macedonia, Greece. An innovative researcher specialising in issues of importance to contemporary European politics, law and democracy, he is the author of fourteen books and numerous articles and book chapters on democracy, the rule of law and EU governance in the field of taxation, as well as on migration issues.
His most recent publications include a book entitled EU Migration Governance: Budgeting and Spending in Times of Crisis as Seen by the European Court of Auditors (UOM Press, 2020) and a three-volume work entitled Audit Bases of Soundness in EU Budgetary Governance (UOM Press, 2020).
The speakers will be Vivien Schmidt, Boston University, and Eulalia Rubio, Senior Research Fellow at the Jacques Delors Institute.
