About:
Electrification is one of the pillars of the energy transition. Reducing dependence on fossil fuels can strengthen the resilience of energy-importing economies, such as China and Europe, in the face of geopolitical and supply shocks, while helping to decarbonise their economies and meet climate targets. At the same time, large-scale electrification will bring about profound changes in electricity infrastructure, system flexibility, security of supply and energy markets.
However, electrification will not happen overnight. It requires substantial investment, as well as new equipment, technologies and infrastructure, alongside new social policies. Moreover, electrification will not be feasible across all energy systems and must therefore be complemented by demand-side management and energy-efficiency measures.
Taking place over four days, the 2026 edition of Paris Energy Week will bring together academics, public institutions, industry, the financial sector and civil society to explore the challenges of Europe’s transition to electrification and its implications for energy, climate, competitiveness and resilience. This edition will examine the opportunities and challenges of large-scale electrification. Topics will include climate technology financing, the resilience of energy infrastructure, household adoption and Europe’s geopolitical position.
This edition will take place across the emlyon, Dauphine-PSL and Sciences Po campuses, in partnership with ENGIE, the Jacques Delors Institute’s Energy Centre, the Energy4Climate Centre, the Climate Economics Chair at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), emlyon Business School and the Energy for Society Chair at Grenoble École de Management.
