Bonn, 11 and 12 July – IZA/VEF Workshop: A European Labor Market

Kristina Maslauskaite, research fellow at Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute, will participate as a discussant in a panel discussion featuring Prof. Jeffrey Sachs (University of Columbia) dedicated to Happiness and (Un)employment.

On July 11 and 12, 2013 the Institute for the Study of Labor will

host an exclusive policy-oriented seminar on “Scenarios for the

European Labor Market” in Bonn, Germany.

In the face of

inconsistent European labor market policies, little learning from each

other on the effectiveness of different policy strategies and severe

impediments to intra-European labor mobility, the alternatives to the

present economic “muddling through” in Europe need to be explored. What

are the perspectives to gain more income security, less income

inequality and more social cohesion? Is the goal of a Europe with full

employment out of reach given the strong negative effects of the

economic and euro crisis?
