Cultural Heritage at the Heart of the Revival of the European Project

Sébastien Maillard, director of the Jacques Delors Institute, intervenes in a debate organised for at the occasion of the European Policy Debate on the role played by cultural heritage in the revival of the European project. Sébatien Maillard express his conviction on the close links between cultural heritage and a particular European Way of Life. He recalled the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe as an important programme that encapsulates this idea. He addressed in particular the European identity and way of life in urban settings, where cultural heritage embodies the soul of a city, its beauty, landmarks, lifestyle, but also a collective memory and sense of belonging of its inhabitants.
