[FR] In the minds of the Balkans
A close-up look at the opinions of Western Balkan residents on their countries and the European Union

The war in Ukraine has revived the prospect of this country joining the European Union, as well as the Balkan states that are official or potential candidates. North Macedonia has had candidate country status since 2005, Montenegro since 2010, Serbia since 2012, Albania since 2014, and Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2022. In addition to these countries that have expressed a desire to join, there is also Kosovo.
This analysis aims to take stock of public opinion in these countries towards the EU. It is based on the results of the biannual Standard Eurobarometer surveys conducted for the European Commission.
