For a new relaunch of the single market
While the relaunch of the European single market is on the EU agenda, Jacques Delors, the initiator of the “Objective 1992”, gives his view on the current situation and on the perspectives for this major project.
While the relaunch of the European single market is on
the EU agenda, Jacques Delors, the initiator of the “Objective 1992”, gives his
view on the current situation and on the perspectives for this major project,
in a Notre Europe – Jacques Delors
Institute viewpoint untitled:
“For a new relaunch of the single market”.
He bases his analysis and recommendations on three
main elements:
1. The adoption of a strategy combining competition,
cooperation and solidarity;
2. The acknowledgment of a successful project, but yet
to be completed;
3. The need for implementing the “Single Market Acts”.
Jacques Delors concludes by underlining that the
single market is still, indeed more than ever before, the cornerstone of
European construction process and it must be safeguarded for the precious asset
that it is.
