24/03/17[FR] The wake-up call

This opinion piece, signed by Jacques Delors, our founding President, Enrico Letta, our President, Pascal Lamy, our President Emeritus, Étienne Davignon, member of our Board of Trustees, and a group of leading European figures, is published on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.
The European Union is not destined to become a peripheral entity. Faced with globalisation and accelerating change, the peoples of the EU want our model of society to be preserved.
The signatories of this Tribune define several priorities:
- the Eurozone
- protection
- migration policy
- defence
- growth
- youth
- environmental protection
- innovation
‘Let us dare to be proud of what we have already achieved, lucid enough to correct the mistakes we have made, and united in solidarity, without which there can be no common future.’
