Despite having waged a brutal and illegal invasion of Ukraine for more than three years, Russia has nevertheless managed to regain its spot within the diplomatic arena, thanks to Donald Trump’s return to the White House. By rolling out the red carpet for the Russian dictator in Alaska on August 15, the American president not only shattered Western efforts to ostracize Russia from the international community, but also provoked incomprehension among his European partners, who feel threatened by Moscow.
