The effects of the COVID-19 crisis are calling into question the dream of Global Britain, at a time when value chains are becoming regionalised once again. EU members will also be paying closer attention to compliance with rules ensuring fair competition. Many areas of negotiation remain open. Beyond technical considerations, what is at stake is the future ability of the EU and the UK to exert joint influence on the international stage.
