En revenant ici à l’Alma Mater et avec le souvenir issu de ma participation en 1993 à l’anniversaire de l’Université de Bologne, j’ai l’impression de ne jamais avoir quitté le monde universitaire, tant le dialogue a été mené sans relache, entre celui-ci et moi-même. J’y ai longuement pensé en présidant,de 1993 à 1996, la Commission Internationale de l’UNESCO, pourl’éducation au XXIe siècle.
Dans nos analyses, s’exprime le pressentiment d’un changement des pôles d’influence dans nos sociétés. C’est pourquoi, nous plaidons pour le rôle essentiel des Universités, non seulement pour l’enseignement et la recherche, mais aussi pour l’affirmation, dans le débat public, des valeurs qui font la noblesse de vos institutions.
