Tribute by the Jacques Delors Institute to Christian Stoffaës

The Jacques Delors Institute was saddened to learn of the death on 19 May of Christian Stoffaës, a long-standing member of our Board of Directors. Our President, Enrico Letta, our Director Sylvie Matelly, the members of the Board of Directors and the entire team at the Institute pay tribute to his lifelong commitment to Europe and offer their sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

An engineer and mining graduate, he was Chief Economist at the General Council for the Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology, Director of the Centre for Studies and Forecasting, and then Advisor to the Minister at the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry. At Electricité de France, he headed up forward planning and then international relations. He was also an associate professor of international economics at the University of Paris 2 Panthéon Assas and the University of Paris-Dauphine.
