Adam Balcer is Programme Director “The EU and the new
global contract” at demosEUROPA – Centre for European Strategy. He
graduated from the Centre for East European Studies (M.A) and in the Institute
of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, the University of Warsaw. Currently, he
is a Ph.D. candidate and lecturer at the Centre for East European Studies, the
University of Warsaw. He was an expert at the Department of Central Europe
(Balkan section) and Project Leader “Turkey after the launch of EU
accession negotiations – foreign policy and internal affairs” at the
Centre for Eastern Studies, Warsaw. In the years 2010-2012 he was a member of
task force in the National Security Council of the President of Poland. In the
years 2010-2011 he was an adviser to Marek Siwiec, MP at the European
Parliament (the Eastern Partnership). Since 2010 he has been a member of the
Advisory Group to the Committee of Foreign Relations at the Polish Parliament.
He published numerous articles and reports on Balkans, Turkey, the CIS and the
Black Sea.
