Graduate of “laurea” awarded by the Faculty of Law of the University of Naples and Doctor of Political Science, Alfonso Mattera was Special Advisor and Deputy Director General of the Internal Market to the European Commission, from which he was a civil servant from from 1966. From 1980, he was professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and scientific director of the European College of Parma.He has also been a professor at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome and has authored over 80 publications on the history of European integration and European economic law issues published in journals and textbooks, as well as of several works.
