Jean-Michel Glachant is an academic and an expert in energy economics and policy. He has 35 years’ experience of studying the creation of open energy markets, the regulations that contribute to them, and the corresponding behaviour of companies. 20 years’ experience in defining and implementing European policies. 15 years’ experience in European decarbonisation policies. He has published around 25 books and 150 articles or reports.
From 2008 to 2022 he was Director of the Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute. In 2022 he was elected President of the International Association of Energy Economists (IAEE). In 2023, he was appointed member of the Scientific Council of the Commission de Regulation de l’Energie (CRE).
