Born in 1952, is a graduate in political science of the University of Florence, Stefano Bartolini is Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute since September 2006.
He has been assistant professor at the European University Institute, associate professor at the University of Florence and full professor at the Universities of Trieste and Geneva. He has been editor of the Rivista Italiana de Sicenza Politica and a membre of the scientific editorial board of West European Politics and Electoral Studies. In 1990, he was awarded the UNESCO Stein Rokkan Prize for the Social Science.
