Christine Verger

Vice-President

Christine Verger is Vice-President of the Jacques Delors Institute and former advisor to the cabinet of Commission President Jacques Delors (1987-1994). She was Director of the European Commission Representation in France (1994-1996) and Secretary-General of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament (1999-2004). She then headed the cabinet of Josep Borrell, President of the European Parliament (2004-2007) and was Director of Relations with National Parliaments at the European Parliament (2009-2017). She was also Secretary General of the Notre Europe Foundation (1996-1999), one of the think tanks founded by Jacques Delors.

Christine Verger holds a master’s degree in law, a DEA (postgraduate diploma) in political science and a degree from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). Her publications and speeches focus in particular on European democracy, the European Parliament and the institutional functioning of the EU.
