Thierry Tardy

Associate Research Fellow, european security and defence

Thierry Tardy has been an associate researcher at the Jacques Delors Institute since September 2023, specializing in European security and defense. His work focuses on the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP), EU-NATO relations, crisis management, and UN peacekeeping operations. He is currently an advisor at the International Defense and Security Center in Tallinn.

He was previously Director of Research at the NATO Defense College (2018-2023), Senior Analyst at the EUISS (2013-2018), and Director of Studies at the CPSG in Geneva (2001-2013). He is also a visiting professor at the College of Europe, Paris-Saclay University, and the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr.

Thierry Tardy holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Birmingham, a DESS (postgraduate diploma) in Diplomatic Studies from Paris-Sud University, and a PhD in International Relations from Sorbonne Paris Nord University. His working languages are French and English, with a basic knowledge of Russian and Italian.
