Jacques Delors Energy Centre (JDEC)

The green transition is a vital issue for Europe’s future. Founded in 2018 to better define the content and actions needed to achieve an energy transition that benefits all Europeans, the JACQUES DELORS ENERGY CENTRE (JDEC):

  • provides national and European decision-makers with insights into the challenges of the energy transition,
  • formulates policy recommendations for implementation by public authorities,
  • engages with various stakeholders (civil society, businesses, students) to raise awareness of the challenges of the European energy transition.

The JDEC continues the work of the Jacques Delors Institute. It was Jacques Delors who, together with European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, initiated what is now the Energy Union. Since 2015, the European Union has been promoting a systemic approach to the transition that enables the development of a decarbonised and decentralised energy system, with citizens and consumers at its heart.

Energy efficiency, renewable energy, innovation, green investment, clean mobility solutions and social justice are the essential ingredients for a successful energy transition. To this end, the JDEC’s work aims to provide answers to the energy trilemma:
