[FR] Euroquestions #36 | EU-China Summit: What kind of relations in a new geopolitical context?

The European Union and China will hold a summit on 1 April, bringing together Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Emmanuel Macron may also be involved in the meeting.
The summit is expected to focus on China’s position on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The issue of the investment agreement between China and the EU could also be addressed. On bilateral economic issues, the Europeans are sure to raise the issue of Chinese coercion over the past several months, particularly against Lithuania. Finally, climate issues, which are less controversial, could also be discussed.
On the eve of this summit, we will welcome Sylvie Bermann, Member of the Board of Directors of the Jacques Delors Institute and former French Ambassador to Russia and China, who will analyse for us the challenges facing EU-China relations in light of the new geopolitical context in which we find ourselves.
