Académie Notre Europe #6 – Commercial and Industrial Policies in Europe

Académie Notre Europe – Session 6: Commercial and Industrial Policies in Europe
The sixth session of the Notre Europe Academy will focus on commercial and industrial Europe and will take place in Brussels. It will provide an opportunity to address the challenges of the European Union’s reindustrialization, which is losing ground to the United States and China but can draw on the strength of its single market as well as strategic sectors, particularly those related to the green transition. Furthermore, against a backdrop of heightened international trade tensions, we will reflect on the EU’s trade strategy and ways to align it with its climate ambitions.
During this day in Brussels, participants will engage with several key figures from the European institutions.
In particular, a meeting is scheduled with Thomas Pellerin-Carlin, Member of the European Parliament and member of the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy, to discuss the EU’s industrial and energy challenges.
Participants will also learn about the workings of the European External Action Service during a guided tour led by Gurvan Le Bras, Deputy Head of Unit in charge of strategic planning.
Finally, a panel discussion will focus on the European Union’s trade policy, featuring presentations by Ulrike Sapiro, Executive Director of the Jacques Delors Foundation; Solène Padeletti, Director of Operations at Europe Jacques Delors; and Edouard Bourcieu, Chief Economist at DG Trade, who will share their insights on the challenges and directions of European trade strategy.
