Webinar | How to govern Europe in times of crises?

Over the last decade and a half, the European Union has faced a multitude of crises across different policy areas, ranging from the Eurozone crisis to the Covid pandemic and, more recently, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Have lessons been learnt from the EU’s responses to these various crises? Do crises always act as a catalyst for further European integration, as famously predicted by Jean Monnet, or do they have the potential to weaken the Union in certain circumstances?

Looking ahead, is the EU governance adequately equipped to handle potential crises that may arise? Do member states share a unified vision regarding the necessity of reforming the EU to enhance its crisis-management capabilities? How to strengthen the EU’s capacity to respond to crises without undermining democratic principles and ensuring parliamentary accountability?
