Czech Republic: a Weakened EU Partner
The formation of a government will be difficult for the winner of the Czech legislative elections, Andrej Babis, embroiled in scandals. But he will probably not follow the lead of Hungary and Poland.
On 21 October 2017, ANO 2011, the party of the billionaire tycoon Andrej Babis, won with a significant margin in the country’s legislative election. But as Martin Michelot, Deputy Director of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, explains, Andrej Babis will struggle to find willing coalition partners, in addition to being embroiled in scandals. But the new Czech Prime Minister will probably not follow the lead of Hungary and Poland.
