This autumn, in 2021, Europe is experiencing an energy price crisis, mainly caused by a surge in gas prices. As winter draws near, what we might call a “gas crisis”, in reference to the oil crises of 1973, 1979 and 2008, risks having a considerable impact – economically, politically and socially. This policy brief will present the current state of play in Europe as well as reviewing the causes and determining crisis recovery strategies.
