The Aquitaine vineyard is the result of a very long history, guided in part by its geographical location: the southern part of the French Atlantic coast was the personal property of the English monarchy for more than three centuries (through the Duchy of Aquitaine). This was from the mid-12th to the mid-15th century, at a time when the English were still Roman Catholics and drank wine all the more because hot drinks (tea, coffee, cocoa, etc.) did not appear until much later, with the colonial adventure. This continental possession provided the English monarchy with an important resource for its consumption of beverages.
